Art Work Lately: April 2026
Howdy. Hi. Hello. Welcome.
It hasn’t rained much the last month or so. So I’ve been making lots of things especially those that need the sun. Market season is officially in full swing for me next weekend. Next Friday will be my first day back at Salishan and Saturday & Sunday I will be at Art in the Garden at the Alsea Thyme Garden for Mother’s Day. Prepping for the markets has been a priority, but I have also been doing a bit of experimenting.
I ran out of my Jacquard cyanotype chemicals. I usually get them in a “kit” so the powders (there’s two) are premeasured. I mix them myself from there. A while back, Jacquard sent me a bunch of goodies to try. Two of the items were big tubs of the powders. I made an attempt to figure out the proportions to replicate the kit amounts. I have read about other cyanotype artists making their own recipes. So this was me making my own recipe I guess. The bandanas above were my first project using the new mix. They came out much darker than I’m used to, but I really like them. I have thoughts on dialing in the powder proportions to get different results. It’s cool to edit an existing process and get new outcomes. These tote bags are also from the new mix. So moody!
Other things I’ve been up to are making more handmade paper and then using it for botanical monoprints. Making more wet cyanotype prints and lots and lots of bookmarks. I made some classic cyanotypes on papers I hadn’t tried before. They all have some warm colors to them. I then mounted them on colored mats. This is my favorite one.
I have a lot of the new stuff in the shop already. I will have a few more things in there next week. You can grab anything you like before Friday or come find me at one of the markets.
Speaking of the shop, I did a bit of reorganizing. The wallpapers are now in the main shop and are $1 each. But newsletter subscribers can get any/all of them for free. You’ll need a discount code and that will be listed in the newsletter. I have a new wallpaper for you as promised. I highly suggest making your clock blue for the same combo I’m rockin’ on my phone. It makes me happy every time I wake up my phone.
Thanks for being here! I’ll catch you next time.
