Art Work Lately: May 2026
Howdy. Hi. Hello. Welcome.
Time flies doesn’t it. I have been up to a lot since we last talked. Let’s get into it.
The art market life can be tough. It’s fun, but also hard work. And the weather may look beautiful, but might not feel beautiful. We took hot soup in a thermos for our market lunch a couple weeks ago. That coupled with some hot chocolate was a level up in maintaining a good core body temp. Also the fleece-lined leggings I bought over the winter because Salishan is always cold. We only had soup for the one time. But I have since made more and we are good to go for this weekend. That all said, I was accepted to the Lincoln City Sunday Market. So I am doing (at least) two markets a week. I hope you’ll come say hello.
With the hard work in mind, I have decided that it’s too hard to keep up with putting inventory of originals online and do so many markets. I mostly sell things at markets anyway. So the energy is better spent in that direction. Don’t worry tho. Cause all hope is not lost. For original work, your best bet is to come see me in person at a market on the Central Oregon Coast and occasionally over the mountains in the Valley. The second best would be come December after market season, I’ll do a big shop update with the originals I have. It’ll be like early Christmas or a close approximation.
Catching up on admin tasks and staying on top of making notecards, etc. for the markets has led to not as much experimentation as I would like. But I am always brimming with ideas and will get to some soon. One of those ideas that has become real is cyanotype denim patches. Partially a selfish desire, I wanted one to put one on my hoodie for some added flair. I made 8 patches and have barely made a dent in the pair of jeans they came from. So I will have lots as the summer goes on.
Speaking of notecards, etc. I have some new designs for the notecards and for art prints. They are all up in the shop as of this week. They’ve been available at all of the markets I’ve done so far and they are feeling the love. Some of the designs come from small trading card sized cyanotypes I made for fun. Making something small and then blowing it up gives a new dimension to it. I definitely want to make more in this way. Here’s some of the little guys.
Ideas that are percolating: cyanotypes with gold leaf, watercolor painting on dry cyanotypes, more experiments with crystal glass cyanotypes.
Thanks for hanging out with me for a bit. Let’s do it again next month.
