Southern Washington Coast Lighthouses

North of Astoria, across the Columbia River in Washington state, are two lighthouses. We had tried to go to the lighthouse in Cape Disappointment when we lived in Washington. The trip was fraught with troubles and was as you may have guessed a disappointment. We also tried to do the North Head lighthouse in the same trip, but something that I can’t remember prevented us from seeing it. So while we were in Astoria, we thought we’d give it another try. It was pretty gloomy that day. It remained that way as we trekked what was a much more arduous hike to the Cape Disappointment lighthouse. It was impressive and a great view out onto the ocean. The North Head lighthouse was much easier to get to and the sun blessed us with its rays as we arrived.
